Further lectures “History of Music Styles”

History of Music Styles” is a series of lectures read at Zaryadye Hall. Musicologists, professors of Moscow music colleges, and journalists talk about music styles.

The series in its entirety is two years long. So, having started reading past Fall, we hope to have approached contemporary composers and music of the future by the Spring.

In April and May of 2022, we’ll talk Mozart operas, Vienna classics, Glueck’s reformation of the opera genre (and certainly his oeuvre “Orpheus”), and even discuss a hard problem “What does sonata want?”!

The very last lecture would be dedicated to the real iconic piece – Beethoven’s Ninth!

Lecturers:
Larissa Kirillina, PhD in Arts and a professor of Moscow Conservatory. Author of more than 100 scientific articles on music theory and history, including biographies of Hendel, Beethoven, and Gluck for book series “Life of Notable People”

Sergei Khodnev is a music and art critic, historian, and the editor of culture section of the “Kommersant” newspaper.

Irina Sousidko is PhD in Arts, a professor of Gnessin Academy. Co-author (with Pavel Lutsker) of two-volume research “18th Century Italian Opera”.

Irina Tushintseva is a musicologist, radio “Orfey” presenter.

Elena Dvoskina is a PhD in Art history, Associate Professor of Moscow Conservatory, professor in Gnessin School, senior research scientist of the State Institute of Art Studies.

The first lecture of the new unit: 17 April, 12.00 AM
