“The very creative image of Hibla Gerzmava evokes feelings of piety and admiration. The only Gran Prix winner of the Tchaikovsky competition, she proved her reputation of one of the best European female opera singers”.
Dmitry Renansky

“Long ago, Hibla had set her standards very high, and never lowered it. No wonder then that every performance of hers is a pure delight for the audience. Clear, sensitive, and divine voice of Hibla makes you feel like you’re in heaven…”
Irina Schymchak, “Muzykalnyi Klondayk”

Hibla Gerzmava is one of the Russian opera biggest stars. In 1994, during Tchaikovsky Competition, on hearing young Gerzmava the great late Elena Obraztsova wrote down in her judge’s notebook, “The next big thing!!!”. She was right: that year Gerzmava became the winner, and her career skyrocketed. Classical cognoscenti as well as opera fans had been following her programmes since long ago, and the singer reached wider audience due to the performance during the closing ceremony of Sochi Olympics.

Ekaterina Ganelina studied piano under professor Vera Gornostayeva and completed her postgraduate concertmaster course under professor M. Smirnov. She has accompanied singers at prestigious international competitions such as the Tchaikovsky and Bella Voce competitions in Moscow, Amber Nightingale in Kaliningrad, and been awarded the best concertmaster diploma several times. The pianist has taken part in Russian and international music festivals combining an active concert career with teaching at her Alma Mater at the concertmaster art department.
